Monthly Archives: May 2016

May 27, 2016 – Volume 26.21 – DISNEY PEAK PERIOD HAS STARTED!

We have a LOT of different dates coming up that are very important regarding the tickets. First and foremost, Disney PEAK season starts Friday, 5/27 and continues through 7/23. This means that any ONE DAY TICKET MUST BE CHARGED FOR AND PRINTED AS A PEAK TICKET. This includes Magic Kingdom, Non-Magic Kingdom, 1 Day Hoppers, 1 Day with Water Park and 1 Day with Water Park and Hopping. For tickets sold during these dates, be sure to click “PEAK” on the Disney ticket store.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL – 50% OFF KIDS
Cirque is closed from now through May 30th and will re-open for shows starting 5/31. With shows starting 5/31 through September 3, we will be offering children at 50% off. For those of you on the AGS POS, the prices have already been updated.

Sea WorldSEA WORLD SPECIAL ENDS 6/5
The special $30 Off Sea World tickets ends June 5th. Anyone who buys tickets for visits after that must be sold the “Choose Your Adventure – 1 Visit” tickets. Make sure as June 5th gets closer, you ASK YOUR GUESTS WHAT DATE THEY WILL BE VISITING! They will not be able to get in if you print the current “Sea World One Day” tickets.

AQUATICA 50% OFF WEEKDAYS
If you have guests that mention they saw the 50% off Weekday tickets for Aquatica, you can sell these tickets. Again, these tickets are ONLY visits for Monday – Friday, so you MUST ASK YOUR GUESTS WHAT DATE THEY ARE VISITING. If they want to go on a Saturday or Sunday, you have to print the REGULAR Aquatica admissions. The last day to use these tickets is 6/3.

NO EATING OFF OF BREAKFAST BAR
Whether you are permitted by the hotel or not, we do not allow anyone to eat off the breakfast bar at our hotels. Please eat before or after your shift. Coffee is OK.

memorialday14[1]HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

UNIVERSAL GATE PRICE INCREASE                      Effective TODAY, 5/27, Universal has announced that they will institute variable pricing on their ONE Day Ticket – Base and PTP.  This is a SUBSTANTIAL price increase, but for now, we will continue to charge the same price, which matches their online pricing.  You can use this as a way to tell them we are offering a substantial discount over the gate price.

SELL CONVENTION TICKETS!                                                                                                                       For those of you on AlDesk or the ITicketPOS, there are a LOT of conventions in town that gives you an opportunity to SELL these tickets that offers you GREAT commissions!  This includes:  MegaCon, the Libertarian Convention, and Gay Week.  As always, the guest (or their family) must be qualified in order to sell these tickets.

USE OF LEGACY CC MACHINES
You must be VERY diligent when using a legacy (no chip reader) credit card machine! We had someone purchase 10 Magic Kingdom tickets at the Comfort Suites on 192 with a stolen card. Remember, if you do not have a chip reader and you swipe the card, YOU MUST CHECK ID, VERIFY THE ROOM NUMBER, AND WRITE WHAT TICKETS ARE PURCHASED ON EVERY SLIP. For larger parties (of more than 4), you MUST have all members of the party in FRONT of you! We received 12 chargebacks in the last 2 weeks totaling more than $8000. PLEASE be sure to follow these procedures and write what tickets are purchased on EVERY credit card slip.

GAY WEEK
Gay Week starts Tuesday, 5/31 and continues through Sunday, 6/5. The host hotel is the DoubleTree / Sea World with the overflow hotel being the Hyatt Regency Convention Center. While most of the events are private separately ticketed events, they do have an itinerary published on their website: www.gaydays.com, The main day for years has been the visit to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday, 6/4. We need to be sensitive to the needs of all of our guests, so without offending anyone, you need to assess the attitude of your guests and make sure they are aware that some of the parks on particular days will be very crowded – particularly the Magic Kingdom on 6/4. So if you have families with smaller children, you may want to direct them to another park on that day. The good news is that this qualifies as a convention. So for those of you on AlDesk or ITicketPOS, you can sell anyone here for the events the Convention Tickets, which have a much higher commission! As usual, they must be qualified.

LEGOLAND GATE PRICE INCREASE
Legoland has increased all gate products by $2 effective May 18th. The POS has been changed to reflect this increase.

STAY AT DESKS OR IN LOBBY
Again, you must be at your desk or greeting guests in the lobby between the hours of 7 am – 11 am. At least once a week, we get a call from a hotel manager saying there are people at the desk waiting to buy tickets and our person is not there for an extended period of time. This is unacceptable and will lead to reprimand and/or termination.

memorialday14[1]MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IS COMING!

7 AM – 11 AM MUST BE AT DESK
We want to remind all of you that the hours between 7 am and 11 am are our peak time for ticket sales. Everyone must be available to assist guests – either behind the desk or greeting guests in the lobby. There is to be absolutely no breaks of longer than 5 minutes during this time. Far too often we get calls from hotel managers saying there is no one at the desk and people are waiting to buy tickets. This should NEVER happen. We will be monitoring this for adherence.

NO CELL PHONE USE – PERSONAL CALLS
Another complaint we are getting from our hotel partners is that some of you are on personal calls. We DO NOT allow cell phone use at the desk (unless it’s an emergency or your desk phone doesn’t work). Also, any phone use at the desk should be business related. Save personal calls for your breaks and use your cell phone only in a designated break area during your break time.

CONVENTION TICKETS
For those of you with access to Disney Convention Tickets (Premier, AlDesk, new AGS POS locations), you should always be on the lookout for anyone in a tie or wearing a convention badge. Be sure to suggest the After 3 tickets or any other Convention tickets to them AND THEIR FAMILIES. These are great profit tickets! Be sure they are qualified and here on a convention or meeting.

STILL LOOKING FOR GREAT PEOPLE!
Some of you have sent over some outstanding prospects. THANK YOU! Remember, if you send someone and they are hired and stay with us for at least 90 days, you will get a $100 Visa Gift Card!

GO ABOVE AND BEYOND!
Remember, we want you to go “Above and Beyond” for EVERY guest. Be very thorough with the information you give. Help them in any way possible. Get out from behind the desk, SMILE and greet people in the lobby. Let’s get those GREAT comment cards for the hotel and on Trip Advisor!

DISNEY HOSPITALITY PASSES
Remember, you cannot apply for a new pass unless you are within 30 days of your current passes expiring. Go to disneyhospitalitydays.com and enter the Company Access Code: YP49HE4N

May 6, 2016 – Volume 26.18 – SLOWER TIME – MAXIMIZE SALES!

As we move into May – one of our slower months – it is VERY IMPORTANT to do these things: 1) Keep a positive attitude! If you’re miserable, this will come across to the guests and you will do even less sales. 2) Get out from behind the desk and greet guests in the lobby. You cannot expect to do sales without greeting guests in the lobby, welcoming them, introducing yourself as the concierge, and letting them know you are there to help them. 3) Ask good Discovery Questions. Where are you from? (We may not be able to sell certain tickets to Florida Residents e.g. Gatorland is having a FL Resident special) Have you visited Orlando before? Do you have children? What are their ages? Do you have a car? What parks did you plan on visiting? 4) Upgrade any tickets sold. Start with the highest tickets possible and work your way down. Don’t let anyone walk away from your desk with a One Day Disney, Universal, or Sea World without knowing all of the options available on multi-day and multi-park tickets. Be sure to encourage the PTP option on Universal Tickets (they can take the Hogwarts Express) and the Hopper Option on Disney.5) Ask if they have dinner plans. This can lead into your pitch for dinner shows. 6) Don’t forget the smaller attractions that give MORE commission than the majors! Legoland / I-Drive 360 attractions are a GREAT example.

CLEANING DESKS
We appreciate those of you who go into a location and clean and organize the desks. You should do this on a daily basis and throw out any outdated materials. However, please do not throw away anyone’s personal items, like plastic racks, referral stamps, notebooks and plants. We have some of these missing from a location and an upset employee because she paid for these herself.

NAMETAGS MUST BE WORN
Some of the new folks do not yet have nametags, but if you have yours, you must wear it while working. We constantly visit locations and have to tell many of you to put on your nametags.

afterhours-550x320DISNEY AFTER HOURS SALES
We hope that everyone got a chance to experience “Disney After Hours”. “Disney After Hours” takes place May 8, 12 and 19, 2016 at Magic Kingdom Park. A separate event ticket is required. Guests can check-in starting at 7 p.m. each night, with the event hours from 11 p.m.-2 a.m. (or 10 pm – 1 am). Pricing is $149 plus tax for adults and children (ages 3-9). We have it for the same price but obviously a Convenience Fee has to be charged in order for us to make any profit. Admission is limited! For those of you on the “Premier” team, you already have it in the POS. For the AGS team, it has been added and you have different booking procedures. It will be the same as with MVMCP and MNSSHP tickets where a manager or lead will have to book it for you and the actual tickets will be drop boxed to you. Please check your When to Work messages for more information.

I-RIDE TROLLEY TICKET SALES
For those of you working at I-Drive properties that have access to I-Ride Trolley tickets, please make sure your guests understand all the options. You want to encourage them to buy the tickets from us that give UNLIMITED daily rides, but if you have Seniors and Kids, the trolley sells single ride tickets at lower prices where they pay right on the trolley. Please review the brochure or website for more information.

BE PRODUCTIVE DURING DOWNTIME
Schuyler gave everyone a great suggestion. When you are slow, you should always use this time to improve your knowledge so it will lead to more sales. Look through your POS at all of the different products and pricing to make sure you are familiar with them. Read the descriptions. Try to look at their websites and brochures to be able to describe them without hesitation. LEARN!

RECONCILE UNIVERSAL TICKETS
We continue to have the most issues with those of you who are not reconciling your Universal tickets to the POS. Remember, after you run your Summary Report, if those sales do not match up with your POS, you MUST run a DETAIL report and return the FIRST SET of any duplicate tickets. Please be sure to do this at the end of every shift.

APPEARANCE STANDARDS
We just want to reiterate that we follow Disney standards for appearance. That means no facial piercings (including nose rings) or head gear. This would include hats, head scarves or bandanas. The only exceptions would be with a doctor’s note.

STILL LOOKING FOR GREAT PEOPLE!
